What is RAD-140 (Testolone)?
RAD-140, also known as Testolone, is a selective androgen receptor modulator (SARM) developed to produce anabolic activity in tissues such as skeletal muscle. It activates androgen signalling involved in muscle growth, which explains why RAD-140 is primarily popular with people focused on gaining lean mass, strength and improving body composition.
Why RAD-140?
Lean Muscle
RAD-140’s anabolic activity in skeletal muscle is the main reason it is popular with people looking to increase lean mass.
Strength & Performance
Androgen signalling plays an important role in muscle size and function, making strength and gym performance another major reason people choose RAD-140.
Body Composition
Its focus on anabolic activity makes RAD-140 particularly popular during phases where adding or preserving lean tissue is the priority.
Who is RAD-140 Popular With?
RAD-140 is particularly popular with gym-goers and bodybuilders focused on lean muscle, strength and body composition. Its appeal comes from being a non-steroidal SARM with anabolic activity in muscle tissue, making it especially well known among people comparing different SARMs for muscle-building or bulking-focused phases.
Research & Evidence
Human research on RAD-140 itself is limited and has focused on its development as an investigational treatment rather than muscle building in healthy gym-goers. Its muscle-related evidence therefore comes primarily from preclinical research, including newer studies specifically examining muscle size and lean mass.
2025 — Increased Muscle Fibre Size
A 2025 study investigated RAD-140 in young healthy male rats and found significantly larger muscle-fibre cross-sectional area in RAD-140-treated animals compared with controls. This provides direct preclinical evidence for an anabolic effect on skeletal muscle, although the same muscle-building outcome has not yet been established in controlled human trials.
2025 — Lean Mass Preserved in Older Mice
A separate 2025 study examined RAD-140 in older male and female mice over six weeks. Older males receiving RAD-140 preserved significantly more lean mass than controls and also maintained bone mineral density, although these effects were not seen in females and grip strength did not improve.

Rick L –
I’ve done like 4 cycles of it. It’s decent. But downside with sarms is that without actual test, you’ll shut down after 7/8 weeks (also w enclo) and there your gains will stop. You’ll have 4-5 weeks of feeling amazing and making gains, followed by a miserable pct and time off after where you lose a big portion of your gains. I switched over to actual Test myself and it’s so much better results and health wise… Blood work is 10x better than on RAD. Longer cycles, better results, actually feeling good physically and mentally all the time
